Out of the main summer season, we also have a smaller apartment.
Our two-bedroom apartment (sleeps 4) is on the ground floor of our farmhouse set in its own eight acres of terraced land, with wonderful views down towards the coast below and easy access to the mountains above. The farmhouse is in a serene location among almond and olive groves - fresh air and utter peace and quiet away from the packed “costas”.
If you rent the apartment no one else rents the remainder of the house. It is private and likewise all gardens and terraces are for your sole use.
the living room: the living room/library has a comfortable sofa and is full of fiction and reference books in English, German and Spanish as well as some guide books and maps for guests to borrow during their stay. Here there is also a TV for watching DVDs as well as a small collection of DVDs to choose from.
bedrooms: the apartment has two bedrooms, one double and one twin room. Each room has ample storage space in wardrobes and/or drawers.
bathroom: the large bathroom has a full-sized bath tub and shower over the tub. The bathroom is beautifully tiled and has some original features.
kitchen: the kitchen is fully equipped with all the pans and pots, plates and cups and glasses you could need. There are gas hobs and ovens, microwave, toaster etc. There is also a washing machine and a dishwasher. The kitchen has a solid handmade table with benches so there is plenty of space for everyone to sit.
outside areas: the main terrace directly in front of the house has the 10x5 metre swimming pool. Wide shallow steps across the whole width of the pool mean you can get in and out easily and lie in shallow water. The pool is in use from April to October (inclusive). There are plenty of other places to relax. At the back of the house is a walled patio with citrus trees and a large shaded area. Next to the entrance of the walled patio is the large built-in BBQ. There are fantastic views from all of the terraces around the house - great for star-gazing or watching the sunsets. The house is NOT overlooked and is very private. The small patio by the kitchen door is a nice place to have breakfast or sit and read a book in the shade in the afternoon.
heating: the apartment has ceramic wall heaters and a towel radiator in the bathroom for winter stays. All the windows are fitted with traditional wooden shutters which help to keep the summer heat out.
parking: there is plenty of space to park a number of cars right by the house. The house is very private set in its own large plot.
internet: the apartment has broadband (wireless and free)
Bedding is provided, but please bring your own towels.
Mid-stay cleaning can be arranged at a charge.
The apartment has an iron and ironing board.
There is also a baby's cot (and high chair) if needed (please reserve on booking). No bedding is supplied for the cot.
The house is strictly non-smoking, but you may smoke outside.

location, location, location
The house is half way up the valley of Fuente Amarga just north of Huércal-Overa in the province of Almeria. You need a car to get to the house.
The nearest village is Urcal - here there are two mini-supermarkets. The nearest town is Huércal-Overa (about 15 minutes by car). Here there is a good selection of supermarkets and shops, banks, cafés, restaurants, internet cafés and a street market on Mondays. There's even a nightclub! The nearest beaches are at San Juan and Mojácar - about 35 minutes by car. Here there are beautiful sandy beaches, beach bars, great seafood restaurants and nightlife. |
The local area is great for walking and cycling and there are lots of lovely Andalusian villages and impressive towns and castles to visit... Vélez Blanco, María, Lorca, Murcia, Guadix...
